How to play Sudoku
Sudoku is a logic puzzle played on a 9×9 grid divided into nine 3×3 boxes. The goal is simple: fill every row, every column, and every 3×3 box with the digits 1 through 9, with no digit repeating in any row, column, or box.
Some cells are pre-filled as clues — the harder the difficulty, the fewer clues you start with. No arithmetic is involved; pure logic is enough to solve any valid Sudoku puzzle.
Tips for beginners
- Start with rows, columns, or boxes that already have the most numbers filled in.
- Use the Notes mode to pencil in candidate numbers for a cell when you're not sure.
- If a digit can only go in one place in a row, column, or box — that's where it belongs.
- Use the Check button to spot mistakes early before they cascade.
- Use hints sparingly — you only get 3 per puzzle.
