Frequently asked questions.
How does a digital spirit level work?
Your phone contains a MEMS accelerometer that measures the direction and magnitude of gravity. When the phone is level, gravity pulls equally in all directions within the plane. Tilting the phone shifts that balance, and we convert the shift into degrees of tilt.
How do I get the most accurate reading?
Place the phone on the surface you want to level — don't hold it in your hand. Tap 'Calibrate' while on a known flat surface to zero out any sensor offset. Keep the phone away from vibration sources.
What is roll vs pitch?
Roll (Tilt X) is rotation around the forward/back axis — the phone leaning left or right. Pitch (Tilt Y) is rotation around the side axis — the phone tilting forward or back. Both together give you the full 2D level.
Can I use this for hanging pictures?
Yes — lay the phone on top of the frame and adjust until the bubble centres and the badge reads '✓ Level'. The 1° tolerance means you won't see a visible lean in real life.
